Egypt introduces electronic visa in India
The ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr Mohammed Higazy recently announced that the embassy of Arab Republic of Egypt in New Delhi and the consulate in Mumbai will issue electronic visa to out-bound tourists. This has been done in order to facilitate and encourage Indians visiting Egypt. The embassy is looking forward to double the figure of outbound tourist flow from India to Egypt this year; last year one lakh tourists visited Egypt from India. |

New marketing campaign by HKTB
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) officially launched a brand new marketing platform 'Hong Kong Food and Wine Year'. It will be observed from April 2009 to March 2010. The campaign is in association with approximately 2,000 restaurants, popular tourist attractions and famous dining districts, as well as more than 25 renowned local gourmets. HKTB will give guests a taste of the diverse culinary experience of Hong Kong. This move is also made to re-establish the city's image as one of the world's best culinary capitals. Speaking at the announcement ceremony, HKTB Chairman James Tien said, "Hong Kong has long been famous for its culinary strength. Leveraging on the government's exemption of wine duty, which enables visitors to enjoy a wide selection of wine at highly attractive prices, the HKTB has decided to launch this new marketing platform. For the coming 12 months, we hope that by stimulating visitor's consumption, especially during the current economic downturn, we can create greater business opportunities for our catering sector." |

Qatar Airway adds new routes to its kitty
Qatar Airways added its first new route of 2009 with the announcement of daily non-stop flights between Doha and Houston, its third gateway city in the US.
The service, which began from 30 March 2009, offers passengers from Delhi the most convenient journey to America's energy centre and beyond.
Qatar Airways currently operates 58 flights a week from Indian nine cities including daily service from Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad and Kozhikode, and twice-weekly services from Nagpur. |

Club Mahindra Holidays, has opened a new property called the Club Mahindra Whispering Pines, Gables Mashobra in Shimla. The renovated resort, a former colonial retreat, has been renovated with luxurious trappings that include Kennedy House - the multi cuisine restaurant that offers Club Mahindra's signature buffet spread.
